Banana Bread with Flax seeds
I have been making this delicious recipe since I was a teenager. My best friend's mom, shared this recipe when I first got into baking. It is delicious, simple, and perfect to make whenever you have unused ripe bananas. I have made a few adjustments over the years but I hope you enjoy this banana bread as much as I do!
A couple variations with this banana bread recipe: I highly recommend that you use organic flour to make this banana bread, you'll be able to taste a difference. Additionally, I have added 1 tsp of flax seeds to give the added benefit of fiber in this banana bread. If you do not have 1 tbsp sour milk or 1 tsp sour cream + milk, you can use regular milk.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 tsp baking soada
- 1 tbsp sour milk or 1 tsp sour cream + milk
- 3 mashed ripe bananas
- 3/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- 1 tsp flax seed
- 2 cups (organic) flour
Preheat the oven to 325℉. Mix shortening and sugar until well blended. Continue to add each of the ingredients, mix each at a time, in order.
Bake 325°F for 1 hour.
